Randall R. Bawin

Randall Roger Bawin, 66 (1946-2012)

Resident of Beaver Creek, CO and Hollywood, FL, died on July 25th with his family at his side. A funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s in Newport, RI on July 30th.

Randy was born in New York City on January 12, 1946 and raised in Syosset, NY. He excelled in school and sports, and was one of the youngest Eagle Scouts in America. He graduated from Tufts University where he met his wife Cynthia. Randy completed his Masters in both science and business. During the course of his career as a pharmaceutical executive, Randy and his family lived in New Jersey, Ireland, Belgium, and Chicago. Randy's many business accomplishments included managing a factory in Ireland, building a billion dollar plant in China and leading a global operation in Puerto Rico.

His drive and ambition provided his family with a wonderful life, and he served as a stoic role model for his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his intelligence, sharp memory, vivid storytelling, precise advice and unique character. Randy’s passions included skiing, tennis, fishing, and sailing his boat as the captain of the Baywind.

Randy leaves behind a devastated family, but one that feels blessed to have shared a life with a man of such passion for life and his family. He will be sorely missed.

Randy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cynthia; his mother Josephine Bawin; his children Kimberly (John) Conti, Gregory (Katherine) Bawin, Peter (Rachel) Bawin; his 5 grandchildren Tyler, Lindsay, Nathan, Stella and Max; and his sister Janet (George) Barr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at St. Mary’s Church, Spring Street, Newport at 10am. Burial at St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 3-6pm at the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport.
