Gertrude Beatrice Field, 90, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Heatherwood Nursing Home with her loving family surrounding her. Born on May 13, 1922 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Jacob and Frances (Friedlander) Klein. She was the wife of the late Raymond Joseph Field.

Gertrude is survived by her children, Jeffrey Field of Lady Lake, Florida; Fredda Tolman and her husband Howard of Portsmouth; and Deborah Souza and her husband Richard of Portsmouth; her grandchildren, Danielle Tolman of St. Augustine, Florida; Jeremy Souza of Portsmouth; and Derick Souza of Portsmouth, and her great-granddaughter Sophia Tolman.

Gertrude's whole life revolved around her family. She always loved spending time with them. In her younger days she enjoyed cooking, knitting, and sewing for all her family needs. Gertrude and her husband were ranked as Master bridge players and often traveled great distances to attend bridge tournaments.

Gertrude had also been an active member and officer in the Portsmouth PTA, Hadassah and Ladies Auxiliary of Temple Shalom.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11:00am at Temple Shalom, 223 Valley Road, Middletown, R.I. Burial at Beth Olam Cemetery in Middletown.
