Frederick G. Yeomans

U.S. Veteran

Frederick G. Yeomans, 78, a longtime resident of Newport passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Village House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Peggy (Gonsalves) and the late Alice (Ford) Yeomans.

Born in Newport, RI on August 18, 1934. He was the son of the late Henry and Dorothy ( Munroe)Yeomans.

Mr. Yeomans attended Newport public schools, then in the 50’s joined the U.S. Marines where he served in Lebanon during Lebanon crisis .He then worked as a commercial fisherman, carpenter and painter. In his later years worked for Newport Hospital.

He was an avid fisherman and loved fishing with his long time friend David Boiani and nephew Bill Yeomans Jr.

He leaves behind his two children Fred Jr. and Keith Yeomans, his two sisters Dorothy Donovan of Newport and Margaret Ward of Middletown, and brother Thomas Yeomans of Newport. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was a brother to the late Henry Jr. and William Yeomans.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday November 6, 2012 in the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring St. Newport from 4-7pm. A graveside burial with military honors will be held on Wednesday at 1pm in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Those who wish to attend the funeral services may assemble at the main entrance of the Cemetery at 12:45pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Fred’s memory to the Church Community Housing Corporation, 50 Washington Square, Newport, RI 02840
