Pauline A. Fahey, 82, of Girard Avenue, Newport, died Wednesday morning, February 6, 2013 at Village House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newport. She was the wife of the late Francis R. Fahey.
Pauline was born in Newport on June 6, 1930. She was a daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Sullivan) Downey.
She was the first female Tax Assessor for the City of Newport, working over 23 years, retiring in 1973.
Pauline was a life long parishioner of St. Augustin’s Church in Newport and was a graduate of the St. Catherine’s Academy, class of 1947.
She is survived by her son, Kevin F. Fahey of New Gloucester, Maine, her grandson Brian K. Fahey of New York City, her granddaughter Megan Fahey of New Castle, Delaware, her sisters, Marion Galvin and Grace Curran and her husband John all of Newport, her brother Leo Downey and his wife Diane of Newport, her daughter in law Patricia Fahey Nolan of Burlington, N.J. She was the mother of the late George M. Fahey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at St. Augustin Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport at 10am. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
