Patricia M. Silveria

SILVERIA - Patricia M. (Martins) Silveria, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Forest Farm Health Care Center (Fifth Ward Annex).

Born in Newport, R.I. on April 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Manuel J. and Margaret (O’Brien) Martins. She was preceded in death by her sister Margaret (Martins) Chapman and her brother John “Jack” Martins, who were both taken too early in life.

Pat was a graduate of St. Augustin’s Grammar School and St. Catherine Academy. She was a proud life-long parishioner of St. Augustin’s Church. She was a longtime bookkeeper at Newport Tool and Die, followed by her favorite job as bookkeeper for B.R. Arnold Construction.

She was a loyal and dedicated Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She was an avid reader who enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and playing cards with her grandchildren. Pat enjoyed bingo, bowling and loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day Parade and opening her house for all to enjoy. She lived her whole life in the good ole Fifth Ward (God’s Country). Pat was honored to represent Morton Avenue in the dedication ceremony of Fifth Ward Square in March 2006. She enjoyed traveling north to spend time with her family relaxing at White Pond in NH and Miles Pond in VT.

She loved all her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandson with all her heart. She is survived by her six children: Sandra and husband Leo Mara; Peter and wife Beth (Callahan) Silveria; Robert Silveria; Sue and husband Michael Bagley; Kenneth and wife Donna (Karoli) Silveria; Melissa and husband Kelly Turner. She also leaves her grandchildren Allison (Silveria) Furtado, Rebecca Read, Mary Beth Silveria, Christina Mara, Lauren Silveria, John Silveria, Meg Turner, Andrew Silveria, Michael Turner; and her great-grandson Jacob Mara. Pat also leaves behind many beloved relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring St., Newport, R.I. 02840.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 10 a.m., St. Augustin’s Church, 2 Fifth Ward Square, Newport, R.I. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, R.I.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Pat’s memory to the Forest Farm Health Care Center Activity Fund, 193 Forest Ave., Middletown RI 02842 to thank them for the extraordinary and loving care that Pat received, and to allow them to continue providing such care to others.
